Version 4

Version 4 of Expression Studio is now available for download

Three of the new features are some impressive SEO Tools, a new extensibility model for creating add-ins and previewing pages in SuperPreview via the Cloud (currently Safari on the Mac). Brief overview

Add-In maker WebAssist have already announced that they will be releasing several add-ins for V4 in the near future, with one, a PayPal add-in already available.

Ajatix have also released new versions of their CSS Menu and Lightbox add-ins with V4 compatibility.

As reported, Expression Web V4 will be a free upgrade to V3 users.

First V3 Add-Ins Released

JIMCO have added an add-in that launches the ASP.Net Website Admin tool for the site you are working on. This is currently FREE but you do need to register on the Jimco Shop before downloading it. 14 Jan 10

Ajatix have launched their PureCss Menu and Advanced CSS Menu add-ins for EW3. In fact the new versions support EW V1, V2 V3SP1 and FP2003 www.ajatix.com  24 Dec 09

EW V3 SP1

Expression Web SP1 was made available on 20th November. It will be rolled out automatically via Microsft update but can also be downloaded directly . There is a KB article describing the changes etc.

A trial download is available and has a 60 day limit, adequate time to thoroughly explore and try the new features.

Using an Expression Media Photo Gallery in EW

EW SuperPreview

EW SuperPreview in EW V3 will allow you to test your sites in a number of browsers in a single interface. It has measurement and DOM inspection tools. The currentallows comparison between it's built-in version of IE6, whatever other version of IE you have installed (if IE8 it also gives the IE7 compatability mode) and Firefox. Eventually it may allow you to test with other browsers via the Cloud.

A standalone version of SuperPreview is also downloadable from Microsoft.com (250MB)

EW Vista Macro fix

Many users running EW V2 on Vista found that macros could not be run, including the Web Extras Add-in from Office Power. This update solves the problem.

Browser Issues

asp:menu in IE8 The asp:menu control will  not display in IE8. There are two solutions. 1) Force the browser into IE7 compatibility mode or the better solution here which fixes the problem correctly. New

IE Tester is a free web browser that allows you to have the rendering and JavaScript engines of IE8, IE7, IE6 and IE5 on Windows XP or Vista, as well as the installed version. It's a beta release so has bugs but is usable and free. Recent
